252. Why Are We Not Looking More Into The Placebo Effect
The placebo effect is essentially the effect that our minds have on our own healing. In certain instances, patients will be given a “placebo pill” which is simply some sort of a sugar pill which has no real intended purpose other than to “convince” the patient receiving it that it’s doing something. In turn, the patient simply feels better because in some way shape or form, their mind willed themselves to do it.
So why are we not harnessing this incredible discovery? I’m sure there’s a few reasons. The process of healing is unfortunately, not linear. It’s not even necessarily that we expect immediate results, but because we have short lives to live. We need to move on to the next thing. Particularly when you are in pain, there’s nothing more gratifying or satisfying than a quick fix. But are we simply looking at symptoms, and not the root cause? I believe that’s a whole nother topic/article.
The success of the placebo effect shows us that there is hope. And its failures do not mean that it is a failure, as it’s proven to be true. If anything, it shows us that there’s more to be done in terms of harnessing this information and energy.
So let’s talk about why the placebo effect works. Through laws of energetic intention, when you’ve consciously or subconsciously made an affirmation, you allow the process of healing to begin and start. For smaller or more minor cases, this is sometimes the only thing which is holding you back from your body taking a natural healing course. Sometimes it’s the first and final step.
But what happens for bigger/badder cases? Affirmation is often times not enough, unfortunately. There needs to be some type of follow through or execution. We can presume that most cases are this way. After all, I can’t say a declaration that I wan to be a millionaire and follow it up with no real plan, path or work. And perhaps that’s what’s missing.
What if we deduce what a placebo effect actually is? On a conceptual level, a placebo is a working solution. You are providing someone with a working solution. But that’s simply it. It’s up to the patient to take advantage of this, or proactively use it moving forward. If they choose to do so, they’ll likely have success. But if not, they may stop as soon as they start.
So let’s continue on this path of concepts. If I offer someone a solution, this may be enough to get someone out of their “rut” or their physical issue or ailment. I often feel this is why the placebo effect works for issues of the mind. If you’ve been offered a solution, you have a way out. Your mind can shift entirely in that moment. We can imagine it like someone bringing you flowers when you’re feeling sad. That one single act can have a profound and long-lasting effect, so long as we allow it to.
So what are the next steps? What happens after we’re offered a solution? The biggest thing is integration. How do we now integrate this into our life. Upon every issue/challenge or turn, do we truly believe there is a solution? Or do we shut down? This can look like many different things. We must bring this “solution” to almost every area/aspect of our life. Whatever we have an issue with has a solution, and we are willing, open and able to do that. By simply acknowledging that there is a solution, allows for a clear energetic path which virtually absolves negativity, guilt, shame and repression. It “opens the door” for new energies to come in, and allows for healing. This integration period may look like new self-help therapies, holistic healing, diet or exercise modifications, meditations, etc. Anything and everything which can be carried into our daily routine. Noting that this may work in tandem with other already established healing modalities.
Let’s talk about how important trust is in this scenario. If someone does not trust that this solution is real or affirmed, it will also block any sort of energetic healing from taking place.
It’s important to note that placebos are not intended to be a replacement for Western medicine, but a supplement. That supplement being energetic intention which is already established and affirmed, because we are or were unable to do that ourselves. We trust and believe that something will work, so it does.
The placebo is just the base, just the foundational part of it. But everything else is up to you.
Here’s a practical/tangible way to put your own placebo method into use. And yes, it can still work if you’re aware that it’s a placebo.
Picture an energetic ball of light in front of you. Mine is moving with a few different swishing mini energies around it. It almost looks like a planet-white and blue. This is my “placebo”, but yours can look like anything. The only thing you need to genuinely feel about your procedure is that it’s an affirmed solution. In other words, whatever your’e going through, there’s a way out. It’s important that you feel connected to this placebo, and know that you’ve created it. It will act as your “guide”, guardian angel, all-knowing wisdom, or whatever you want it to be.
Any time you have any sort of problem or issue you’re facing, picture your placebo. This placebo is an opportunity for reflection, rest, trust and faith. Especially awareness. If you’re having discomfort in your body, picture your placebo. Feel things out and access your intuition. Perhaps there have been or are loops which you’re still a part of which are hindering your growth, healing and development. As a physical example, perhaps you’re having back pain and have been siting with bad posture. By picturing this placebo, you become innately more aware of your body and what you’re doing to either reject/neglect it, or even make the situation much worse.
Have trust. It can be odd or even overwhelming to randomly trust an energetic ball in which you’ve created. But if you can remind yourself that placebo effects are actually proven to be effective, you have something of complete value that you’ve created. It’s just about your intention, affirmations, lifestyle integration/usage, and trust with it as well as ourself. You are literally holding the answers to your problems in your hands. This may again, align with already-established or western medicine. But the point is that there is an intended outcome or solution for you. Hope is not lost.
When we subconsciously set an intention to do something, we allow the universe to work for us. We stop the avoidance and rejection of energies, which makes the solutions harder to bring up to the surface. Acceptance is key.
