59. Channeling Gender Fluid Identities

As the conversation surrounding gender and identity has become so pervasive, I once asked myself a question which I was incredibly shocked by the “answer” to. Ultimately, of course I was the one answering it, but still. The train of thought was fascinating.

I asked myself what it would be like to channel a passed loved one who did not associate with a particular identity. While this is incredibly common for newer generations, it’s not so much for older ones.

Now you may be thinking, why is this even a question? For one, I typically ask for pronouns while I’m doing readings to frame my reference. Although it’s largely an inconsequential part of a reading, if the pronoun is incorrect, it tends to throw off the frame of reference. It’s interesting to see how it is actually important for the recipient. But it’s actually important for me, as well.

I actually panicked a little bit, because a lot of times when I channel, it’s out of my own perception value. I’ve lived in this lifetime, and likely several other lifetimes where I’ve been around people who primarily fell into the identities of male or female. Although sexual orientation does of course have some bearing on our identities, I find that gender does more so. So many aspects of our roles, responsibilities, character traits and interests are more blurred. While I personally find that this is a positive thing, it makes it particularly challenging to channel.

When I’m either asked to channel a spirit or am channeling a spirit, their declaration of who they are sets the tone for the reading. In fact, male and female energy is often times one of the first things that you pick up from a mediumship reading. These act as these energetic “identities” which make it really easy to channel information, almost like a web. You tap into “identity #1” so to speak, and you’re able to fly through information. Although we all have our unique aspects, identifying with a particular gender typically exhibits a lot of consistent characteristics and traits. Since much of channeling is “putting pieces together” these pieces are seemingly already together, and I’m much better able to paint the picture of this person’s energetic persona.

When I think about channeling with someone without a gender identity, their energy is so fluid and abstract, it can become really difficult to “grab” energetic parts of their body. They are their own identity, which is essentially reconstructed from familiar norms. It will be more challenging for me to put together all of these pieces in order to create a cohesive whole.

Now am I saying that I wish that all spirits were like this? Attaching themselves to a particular identity? Not at all. It’s just a unique challenge. In fact, there are several ways around this. The easiest way to read a spirit is for them to be incredibly “solidified” with their energy. How does this work? Essentially when we as I like to say, commit to the bit, through law of attraction we are safe and secure with our authentic self, and as a result, project it out into the universe. When we have this wishy-washy energy, or we’re indecisive, or don’t really truly know who we are, our energetic bodies are a mess. There’s no consistency to our thought patterns, emotions, etc. It’s like a giant cloud with tons of different, and at times, contradicting parts. And it’s not just passed people, it’s living people too. People who are secure within themselves are incredibly easy to read because all of their energetic vibrations are virtually saying the same thing in different ways. There’s a lot to grab onto.

Consider that as a concept. If there’s a lot for other people to grab onto or the universe to grab onto, wouldn’t this work in your favor in regards to law of attraction? Sometimes this ultimately makes us more “exposed” and therefore vulnerable, so I feel that a lot of time people avoid this as a whole. However it virtually makes us fade into the background and makes it very difficult for people to read us, so it’s more challenging for people to give us what we want or be present and “see” us. It can also be challenging for people to form connections with us as well.

While having your own overarching identity not tied to male or female divine traits can be challenging to read, it’s not the end of the world. In fact, it can be completely irrelevant so long as the person or passed person has enough focus in their energetic vibration to be true and authentic to who they are. They know what they’re about. They don’t need to default to masculine/feminine, but they overcompensate by making it about them altogether. If someone does not identify as a male or a female, it’s important that they work on creating this identity so that they can be better “seen” by the world, and allow law of attraction to work in their favor.
