117. Cats, Dogs & Divine Energies
I find it funny that many people perceive cats to be more feminine (as people typically perceive cat owners to be women) and vice versa for dogs. Reason being, I actually feel that cats embody divine masculine, and dogs embody divine feminine.
So why the gender inequity, or at least how we perceive it? While there’s certainly no “rules”, I can definitely see where this stereotype is coming from. After all, we do call dogs “man’s best friend”. So why would dogs be divine feminine, then? Well, typically men or those who perceive themselves to be men embody a bit more divine masculine than divine feminine. As a result, they typically don’t really need more divine masculine in their life. We’re all ultimately looking for a balance at the end of the day.
In terms of characteristics, cats are typically more boundary-oriented. They’re a bit more calmer, gentler, serious and perhaps even stubborn. Overall to me, they are much more contraction. Typically because they’re also much more home-bodies in domestic situations. Dogs however are typically the opposite. They truly are expansion. They’re typically out and about, and love to be explorers. They’re less boundary oriented (as in they push boundaries) and much more hyper and energetic. They’re a bit more free-wheeling and easy-going. To me, they’re much more divine feminine.
Beyond the gender debate, I do truly believe that we either have pets who are inevitably our “equal”, or in some ways, compliment us in some ways. It’s no doubt that if we are going through a particular learning lesson, we may receive an animal who propels this learning lesson by exhibiting the challenges underneath its umbrella. Consider what is a challenge for you and your pet. Is it a challenge between you and yourself? Perhaps you as an individual and your life? Maybe even you and others. There’s a lot you can uncover by your interactions with pets, and perhaps even the behavior of your own pets. Even if it doesn’t mimic you necessarily, perhaps you’re being called to impart your wisdom onto it.
I truly believe that our pets are brought into our lives for higher reasons. I do ultimately feel they are our soulmates.
But back to the gender discussion, is this something that you can and should look into for your own self? Perhaps, but not necessarily. Just because you feel you have more divine masculine or divine feminine, doesn’t mean you’ll feel called to have a particular type of animal. I do also feel that our relationships with animals typically develop our tastes. For example, if you grew up with dogs, you may be more likely to get a dog than others. It may just be helpful to take a step back and feel out which animal would be energetically best for you. And since pets live in our home, maybe it’s not necessarily your best match, but what you feel that your environment and home needs. Is it due for some feminine energy? Or masculine? Despite breeds having one take or another, I feel that the breed’s gender may slightly have something to do it, but not so much. Since cats and dogs don’t really have gender norms, it would be similar to men and women existing without absolutely any preconceived notion of how we should be or act. We may have slight differences, but likely not as many as we would think.
It sort of brings into question other animals. Rabbits? Guinea pigs? Birds? What animals are divine feminine and which are divine masculine. Despite the fact that I immediately got divine feminine for birds (lol), I’m not entirely sure. But what I am sure is that destiny has a way of sorting itself out. So while I think that these are interesting topics, don’t let it stress you out too much.
