283. Why Music Is Integral

I don’t even know where to start with this article. One of my favorite things not just on earth, but ever, is music. Now, not only am I not a musician, but I don’t know anything about sound theory. But I can share what sound and music means to me as a channeler, and as a person.

A common tool used in healing is sound bowls or sound baths, where users take a mallet sort of object and hit a sound bowl to emit a frequency. We are aware that different sound frequencies can do different things, and even some of these frequencies can change or alter our bodies, our perception values, and perhaps even our levels of discomfort or pain. These healing baths certainly are therapeutic, even if it’s in the form of stress release.

I find that different sounds and different wavelengths are not only able to fall on a vibrational scale from a to b/positive to negative, but they are also correlated to different chakras, concepts and themes. In other words, we can categorize sounds as much as we want. In the large scheme of life, which is a ginormous web, we can assume that certain sounds are also associated with certain things. I suppose this makes sense, as conscious beings emit sounds, whether it’s from their own bodies through their vocal cords, or how they interact with our matrixed reality, such as with different instruments. Sound can really shift and change our moods. Even if it’s not the music that a band makes, but it can be sounds emitted by nature, or again, other animals. I’m sure you’ve heard once or twice falling asleep to the sound of the ocean, to rain, or even the rainforest.

But what makes these sounds so ideal? And what makes other sounds so terrible to listen to? I find that the pairings and combinations of sounds are layered, and quite complex. So although the sound of one strum of a guitar might be pleasant, or just average, if it’s put together with other sounds which turn it into a chaotic, confusing or agitating “story” or song, so to speak, we no longer like the sound. Sounds have to work in unison with other corresponding or supporting sounds, which is an interesting metaphor for our lives. I’ll get back to this in a bit.

I do feel that subconsciously we are attracted to certain sounds, and it’s likely because we are attracted to the vibration for certain reasons. To make this easier to understand, consider it like this. Depending on your particular mood, you may be attracted to certain types of music. Have you ever wondered why? Well, perhaps it’s because you want to feel motivated or inspired by a song. Perhaps it just matches your vibration, and you’d like to keep it there. Maybe through the threads of the song, it holds an emotional memory that you’d like to be reminded of. Or just maybe… this particular song will pull you out of a funk. It will help transmute energy. It’s no surprise that when we’re in meditation, we’re attracted to certain music, and when we’re weightlifting, we’re attracted to other music. Every type of music has a different theme, and it’s marked by its instruments, its melodies, cadence, vocals, and more.

I certainly can’t write the book on every single sound and what it corresponds to, but I don’t think I have to. I think that on a subconscious level, we just… understand.

The most interesting initial discovery I made about music was listening to songs and visualizing energy. Lots of different colors came to mind. The faster the song, the faster that energy moved. I realized that music can correspond to our own energies and help move it and shift it. Just as it does these motivating and inspiring things to us, i can literally shift, warp and change our energy. I feel like this is a fact that goes somewhat unnoticed, even though we fundamentally understand it’s true. Sound waves aren’t just inherently healing. Music and different combinations of sounds can move and transmute our energy, similar to Reiki healing. At least in my opinion. This visualization taught me that so long as we let it, we can be as affected by music as we want. I’m sure you’ve had several songs which have made you cry before, after all. This is transmission fo old, negative or stagnant energy at its finest. In my opinion, it’s a great trigger for these things. Sometimes it’s difficult or uncomfortable to spontaneously come up with memories or issues/problems which you need to transmute. Music can often times subliminally do this for us.

Here’s where it gets even more fascinating. Songs are like stories. And we know that stories are cathartic and therapeutic, because they are metaphorical symbols of our journey here on earth, in that they have a beginning, middle and an end. Every single sound, layer and combination can speak to different elements and aspects of our life. I think this is why the vocal storytelling can be so strong. If we subconsciously think about it, I do feel we inherently understand that songs are mini stories. And even if the words don’t precisely match what we’re feeling, the sounds certainly can.

As i go through different songs, I’m able to decode different wavelengths. For example, many upbeat songs have a very repetitive beat. In other words, a repetitive energetic wavelength. This is something which may be helpful for someone who needs to be on beat, or needs to exist within a pattern. Likewise, less patterned melodies will match to someone who needs to be off-beat, or perhaps off the beaten path of life. We can dive even deeper to the different highs and lows of each song. Are there short bursts of notes high in tone and low in tone? This can speak to extreme challenges in our lifetime, and adversely less “jumps” are less challenges. If you use your hand to “feel out” an energetic wavelength of a song, almost like a pulse, you can start getting hills and ridges. Try to analyze them. Are they super loopy? Very high and very low? Are the waves close together, or far apart? This can also speak to how quickly or not we may go through our life experiences. Every single element of a song can be deduced to pair with not just a concept or theme, but an essence of life, or perhaps even a sense of time. Music can be anything and everything, and its unique elements and its timing can tell a story which does not need to be communicated verbally. It just is. And it transcends space and time. if we consider that every single song that plays is simply a reorganization or a a reconsideration of sounds which already exist, just altered in some way shape or form, we realize that we are expressing our energy as a collective outward (everything which we already have), and in turn, we are digesting it as well. These sounds have been here since the dawn of time, in some way shape or form. Even when/if we “create” sounds, they have technically already existed, if that makes sense. We can “invent” sounds, but when our earth was formed and created, we were “born” with the initial construct of anything and everything which exists today. So this creative expression of ours is kind of… telling stories over and over again in different ways. On one hand, someone may see it as repetitive, but quite frankly, I see it as kind of brilliant. We manufacture our stories to be told in nuanced different ways. And it likely hits different people in the collective, or the collective all differently. Music is true essence, as sound is a part of anything and everything. Our organization of it is not just creative, but it’s construction. And I do believe that this construction aids in our evolution. Every single sound can be felt, in my opinion. And we can somehow externalize these feelings into this external locust/identity or energetic ball, if you will. And this conscious entity has a mind of its own to shift, change and warp the collective. Songs in this way, are magical healing tools. They’re this “medicine ball” which gets exposed to the collective, indefinitely. Musicians are doctors or healers, in their own right. Sound is more than just a communication tool, but it’s a healing modality, as well.

If we truly consider that creativity is spiritual, the music that we are creating may even be transcending this point and place in time. Music can be from a source which is beyond our realm of understanding. And it’s our job to decode it. Kind of like how aliens send those sound messages… you know? Maybe it’s conspiracy oriented, but how could it be? Everyone has experienced a song which has transcended them to somewhere else. Which has made them feel greater than themselves. Which has made them believe that there’s more to life than just themselves. And there’s no substitute for that type of a feeling.

I find that music is so profound, because it’s everything, so it’s inherently describing… anything and everything. But perhaps I’ll just leave it at that. Try to discover your own decode of music, your own alignment with it, and your own relationship with it. If you can unlock the key of your relationship with sound and music, you have your own insight as a reflection of your own life. You have your own healing modality. And you have your own tool to shift, change and evolve your future.
