419. Alcohol
Although I’ve not channeled all of the different kinds of substances we can take to alter our perception value, our mood and so on and so forth, we can all acknowledge that they do something “different” for us mentally, emotionally, physically and perhaps even spiritually.
People often times wonder why substances are addicting. Every single person has a particular answer or reason for that. Maybe some would even chalk it up to a genetic component of addiction. While from a metaphysical perspective, that aligns with my practices and ideologies, I find it to be more about ancestry karma, lineage and the energies in which family lines are working with.
But let’s talk about what these things do to us. Anything and everything we take has a conscious energetic component, or, it interacts with our energetic bodies which are an amalgamation of parts. And it can do any number of things. For example, the food we eat and the water we drink continues to fuel our energy. Perhaps alcohol also does this, but it has many other components which affect us physically and mentally. As we know, alcohol is not only a depressant, but it can be work to not inhibit us, as well as alter our physical appearance, behavior and other. Needless to say, it can have many physical affects.
But let’s go back to the conversation regarding why we would want to take substances, focusing on alcohol in general. Many people look for a drink when they’ve had a stressful day, perhaps even a celebratory moment with friends. Why? Regardless if it’s positive or negative, it takes you out of your current perception value. What you’re currently thinking, feeling or doing is intended to be altered slightly. Those who consume alcohol more regularly will do this, likely, on purpose in order to get out of their own perception value, or perhaps their own “head”. The most obvious reason for this is that their current perception value isn’t working. Now, if you’re in a group of people, perhaps you want to “get on their level” or simply let loose. But larger intakes of alcohol for more extended periods of time are a default, a mechanism or perhaps even an “answer” for a perception value which previously or currently isn’t working. You need to be, feel or do something another way. People who have limited autonomy or control over their life will often times see this as a “quick fix” or an easy answer. Why step into resolving every single one of your problems, when a drink is only a couple inches away? While one could argue that a temporary escape isn’t a good enough answer or response to someone who is entirely out of control in their life, one could ask… is there not a way for a person to feel de-stressed at any given moment in time? Do people not have a place of comfort, solace or confidence with themselves that at any given moment, there’s a better answer or solution than alcohol? It’s a complicated question or set of answers.
While alcohol use for limited periods of time is not a bad thing, and I’m certainly not the person to tell someone what’s right or wrong, we must question long-term default or abuse. What can we not do ourselves, that alcohol does for us? Is it not odd that our answers do not lie within, but simply in a glass? I think when we tae a step back, it’s somewhat illogical. But as time goes on, we tend to be more broken down as people, in other words, we tend to feel that we don’t have the answers or solutions, particularly as we’re faced with more and more difficult challenges.
If we continue to seek out “quick fixes” for things, we really overlook the point. And we never quite get there. Sometimes I do wonder where the line is drawn with substances. Even plant-based solutions, when relied on heavily, are not good. These things are all simply meant to be “catalysts” which we take this information, knowledge and feelings and “run with it” to learn, evolve and row. Ultimately, to become stronger. Not weaker, and continue to form reliances with outside things. We are truly all we need, within.
There’s certainly a concept of trying to fill a “hole” with multiple things, not just including alcohol. There are so many other addictions. While it’s true that a “hole” may be trying to be filled, I find that addictions are repetitive patterns which are byproducts of the matrix. They tend to be proactive avoidance behaviors rather than experiencing the “point”. Rather than filling a hole, it’s more like they’re distracting from pain. But once we acknowledge and accept the pain, it tends to relieve itself. But at times, it’s easier to depend on an addiction than a person… or yourself.
To intellectualize what you truly need in your life, consider how you feel when you reach for a drink, or anything else. Bored? Stressed? Anxious? These are things to work on developing in the future, regarding solutions. Keep in mind that altering your perception value can be profound. It’s just important to learn from it, and not to rely on it or give it control over yourself. You can feel any way that you’d like to feel, but it’s certainly a journey.
