425. How To “Sweat Out” Energy
Sweating is usually a good thing. Not to say that we all “love” sweating, but science has shown that sweating can release toxins and impurities from our body. Whether it’s external (a sauna or a hot day) or internal (exercising or working up a sweat), there’s a change our body goes through in order to provide the right conditions for this sweat. Often times, it not always, it’s some ind of temperature rise.
While I wouldn’t say that this concept is a direct association, the idea is similar. When physically sweating, you put your body under certain conditions in order to release things which are no longer serving you. If you can do this physically, why can’t you do this mentally or emotionally as well?
Often times we do. Through mindfulness, meditation, refining what we consume, discerning what activities we participate in, friends we associate ourselves with and more, our “minds” can be molded just as easy, if not easier, than our physical body.
I of course believe in the concept of our energetic bodies being an amalgamation of parts, which aligns to the concept of Reiki. Over time, through many different means, we inhabit positive energies, as well as negative ones. These negative ones in our bodies can be from past lives, current life circumstances, our own preconceived notions, the thoughts or feelings of others, and more. Often times, it’s specifically related to trauma, but trauma being a broad assessment of anything negative which “sticks” or has recurrent patterns or problems. Essentially... foundational issues.
So how can we “sweat out” mental/emotional issues? Well… the concept remains the same. We put our body under certain conditions in order to do so.
Often times, however, this isn’t too comfortable or pleasant. The “workout” equivalent may be doing something challenging, whether it’s telling a truth, seeking out a class or education, or maybe conquering a fear. While we tend to reasonably keep up with life demands, sometimes the universe needs to intervene. Sometimes we go too off-path or lose the point. So what does the universe do? It raises the temperature. It puts us under very difficult circumstances or situations to get rid of this energy. It essentially… sets fire to our life. Fun times!
The universe will make it incredibly difficult for us to keep moving forward on our path. It may “destroy” things which are no longer serving us, but we wouldn’t ordinarily stop it. Low key.. I find that this is often times why people self-destruct their own relationships through things like cheating. It’s probably irresponsible to say that it’s the universe’s fault, but…
When we heighten the temperature mentally/emotionally by doing things to challenge us, we automatically go through a refinement process.
Another helpful tip is stillness. Negative energy tends to feed off of us, causing lots of internal commotion. I think in a way, this is in order to “light up” our bodies and make it clear that it’s in there. You may also experience some pain and discomfort. I find that intuitive stretching helps me to address and intellectualize my issues. At times of heightened irritation, frustration and anxiety, I lay down on my bed, on my back, and allow myself to focus on where my mind wants to go. Typically, I fixate on an area of my body, and then allow a feeling to pass through me. Much of this process is having to do with processing energy. The two elements here which are the catalysts to “sweating out” is complete stillness (ensure that you don’t have your legs or arms crossed), and in addition, moving your body the way it wants in a stretched position.
Whatever it is you choose to do, even if it’s simply switching up your daily routine, may be enough for the cycle and pattern to break. Know that negative energies feed off of cycles because it’s the only true way they survive. When we are entirely and truly free from anything or anyone holding us back, our body begins to heal.
