81. Do Dogs & Cats See Ghosts?

Do you have a pet who sees ghosts? And how do you know?

I reckon that about 70-ish% of household pets, particularly cats and dogs see ghosts. I’m actually not entirely sure about other pets, but I find that more “conscious” pets, such as dogs and cats (not that all animals aren’t conscious, but some have more awareness in this incarnation) are more understanding of the differences between our dimension and others.

So why 70%? To be honest, I’m not sure, but it’s what I’ve been told from the other side, and just a general feeling. I wonder if it quite frankly just depends on what the purpose of their incarnation is, or their owners’. Could also be that some pets are more evolved souls, and therefore have the capacity to see ghosts, and the others are simply newer souls. This is similar to psychic ability for humans as well.

What’s interesting is that when I channel pets’ perception value, I find that they are sort of in this strange, inter-dimensional space. Which of course makes sense considering the amount of pets who are “mediums” compared to humans.

I find that pets don’t necessarily communicate with ghosts in such a fluent way, like some humans do. Their perception is more abstract, and more of a feeling. Although they can certainly see things, I find that they don’t necessarily get startled by them. They just sort of have this subconscious understanding that… there are ghosts, you know?

In a way, they’re kind of like little kids or babies. They understand that ghosts simply “are”, and are therefore likely not startled by them. Kind of like how babies typically don’t cry when they see a ghost. Typically dogs don’t bark (typically), or cats don’t run away.

I find that so interesting, since as humans, we are often times very afraid of ghosts. Perhaps we should take a note from our pets.

It’s interesting to consider that pets are kind of always living in this “in-between” place. I haven’t really dug into how it affects them, but I can imagine they are generally just more “aware”. This isn’t really a surprise, since animals often have heightened senses of awareness, as well as use non-verbal cues to “speak” to other animals. I find that as a result, they are likely more in tune with others as well as the environment. For example, I certainly know that my cat “heals” me by laying on me and purring.

So if it’s not so obvious, how do you know if your pet sees ghosts? There are a few things your pet might do.

  • Stare intently at nothing, or dart their eyes across the room “looking” at something.

  • Random meowing or barking (although usually less common).

  • Intent focus on seemingly nothing.

  • Startled looks or expressions from seemingly nothing.

These are the major things that I notice, however it’s likely different from pet to pet. And to be honest, perhaps you may not notice anything at all. Perhaps if you truly want to know if your animal sees ghosts, you may find it’s just down to a “feeling”. Now, having your pets see ghosts is nothing to be afraid of. Although it’s odd (even for me), it’s not that your pets are necessarily beacons for ghosts. And if they are, likelihood is that you’re more so :)
