151. Don’t Chase What You Want In The Now

One of the strongest pieces of advice coming from spirit guides over the last few months is not to chase what you want in the now. But what does that really mean?

Let’s not get it twisted, there’s a real gift in being spontaneous and sort of… experiencing all that life has to offer precisely when it’s meant to be. When you are totally in tune with yourself and the universe, you can be really receptive of these gifts. So, this concept is ultimately very important. But the issue is not having a sort of… central vision.

If we want to maintain any long term goals, or quite frankly, achieve what we want to in the long term, we need to have some sort of “idea” of who and what we want to be. Now fo course, our physical reality ebbs and flows, and we should plan to be surprised, to put it lightly. But there needs to be something to go after. If we don’t, we sort of just exist as this floating amoeba. Sounds kind of nice and peaceful, but without strong motivation or wants and desires, we can get picked up by the universal “wind” and become reduced in priority. One of the most valuable pieces of insight from spirit guides is that help will come to those not who necessarily deserve it, but simply those who ask for it. This is… essentially verbatim a Harry Potter quote, I know.

This of course works hand in hand with law of attraction and manifestation. The more you embody or want something, the more likely you are to get it, because it simply consumes your thoughts, feelings, emotions and everyday reality.

So when we construct an idea of who we want to be, or a “vision”, so to speak, we have this sort of guiding light or north star, that we can run all of our decisions by. If we’re kind of clueless and don’t have this, that means we’re likely going to ruminate over any and all decisions moving forward. This isn’t to say that there’s always going to be some success and failure, trial and error, and not everything we do has to hav a distinct “purpose”, but it’s incredibly helpful. The universe knows who and what to give blessings to. Otherwise, it will wait for us to figure it out.

When we focus so much of our energy in the now, and granted, we should absolutely remain in present moment, we’re kind of fighting so hard for these things that are ultimately a bit meaningless in comparison to our purpose. We’re trying so hard to get what we want right now, that it may not really mean anything in the next few years, or even the next few months. And then we kind of get stuck in this instant gratification loop. Where nothing is really building up to a greater sense of achievement, satisfaction or purpose. Now, there are certainly one-time experiences which are kind of vaguely under the umbrella of our purpose, but again, this is more so an overarching concept or idea.

You only have so much time and energy on this planet. Ensure that you use it wisely. And sometimes, that wisely is a period of trial and error and figuring out what you want. I think that this vision is honestly a life long development. And you are entitled to change it any time that you want. So, there’s no sense in getting so frustrated over it, or having so much anxiety or stress over it. To be honest, I feel like this only happens when we limit ourselves deliberately, either out of our own fear, or out of the conditioning or preconceived notions of others or society at large.

If you’re struggling with this concept as a whole, I would just recommend starting a list of things that you’re good at, things you want to do, and even things you don’t like. Consider that often times our skillset is a swinging door. In other words, we are naturally go do at a lot of things, but we put ourselves in position to challenge those things often. So they can simultaneously be a strength and a weakness. Over time, you can start to deduce different patterns and themes, which can help “build” your purpose. We find it so intimidating to construct a purpose or a vision, yet we are simultaneously acting it out in different ways and forms every day. if we are already doing it to some extent, there’s really nothing to fear. it’s just about bringing it to another level, or perhaps sharing it with others, or the outside world.

End sort of summary, it’s totally okay to strike a balance with “meaningless” things, or things which give you joy and pleasure in the moment, but it’s important to recognize that your feelings may change. And you don’t want to put so much effort, energy, and potentially even finances into something which may not net out in the end. Consider how being at a certain age or or a certain point and place in time may also affect these issues, as well.
