320. The Ugly Truth About The Hemispheric Medicine Debate

Some parts of the world support ideologies of western medicine: pharmaceuticals, tests, healing modalities which are rooted in trials and science. Certainly less “natural” approaches. Pill-pushing and more. Some people support eastern medicine: holistic practices integrating mind, body and spirits, reliance on natural supplements such as herbs. Prioritizing meditation, yoga, etc.

Many people argue that western medicine is not the way to go. And that if we, as a western society can simply get back to our roots and embrace eastern medicine, everything would be fine. But here’s the problem with our society as it exists now diving into eastern medicine:

  • Difficulty or unwillingness to expand out outreach of modalities. Intense increase in stubborness/laziness. I find that stubborness and laziness are not inherent qualities, but merely a byproduct of something larger/greater. Sort fo like… procrastination of the “point”. But regardless, they are still prevalent characteristics.

  • Inability to distance away from the mainstream. There’s limited support and actualization with spiritual causes/modalities and awakening. You may be seen or known as “fringe” and there’s a lot of personal responsibility which can be taken on. It’s outside the realm of traditional treatments, which could cause other problems. And I think this is one of the biggest and most realistic problems with a pursuit of eastern medicine, which is why the answer typically leads back to integration. For example, are we willing to completely change or fix our diet/exercise regime, or try acupuncture, etc. Let’s face it, we’re generally closed minded. It’s going to take a lot to bring trials and examples of these types of modalities to our world. We are relatively closed off as a society to new ideas.

  • Limited ability or understanding of holistic medicine. There’s a reason why people are uncomfortable with feeling that an herb can cure their illness. It’s not about the herb, and it’s not about the illness. It goes deeper than that. It forces concepts of energies from both us to our surrounding natural habitat. We are only seeing the tip of the iceberg in terms of holistic or energetic healing.

  • Lack of a “guarantee”. Eastern medicine is somewhat of a trial. It takes time and patience and inward looking. This is something our society doesn’t often have. We expect a “quick fix.

  • Inability to work within our lifestyles. We don’t have the time and energy to test out/try out all these things. Some of these healing modalities are not readily available to most people. Or there’s a lack of bringing it into people’s lives.

  • There’s a larger issue at stake. If you are beginning to understand root cause of your life, it can fuck up your life. And people don’t’ totally want to acknowledge that, which is why a lot of illnesses are often suppressed or masked. A large amount of prolonged dependent issues requiring medicine (not all) are suppressants, which means the root issue is not taken care of. We could see this with depression and/or anxiety.

The major problem, for me, with western medicine is that it’s a “one size fits all” approach. Traditional healing modalities do not affect everyone the same way. And there are still issues and problems we cannot resolve. We are bypassing anyone and everyone who is seriously struggling, and it’s not okay. It’s time to change.

What is the solve and what is the answer? Hitting all of these points, as well as integration. Not only is it the smartest approach in terms of tackling things head on. For example, if you receive a diagnosis, the best way to shift your reality is total mental/emotional and physical overhaul in terms of bettering yourself. That’s just a fact. You’re more likely to cure a particular issue if you’re hitting it from all sides. But you’re also hitting any and every single modality. When we exist in a world which relies on western medicine, and we have structures in support of western medicine, and we have limited updated knowledge and availability of eastern medicine it can be challenging. This is a reminder that energetic information changes. Just because there was a life saving herb 10 years ago, doesn’t mean its energetic relevance is still the same. We have come quite a ways with our energetic power, and it has shifted and changed.

There’s a reason why western medicine and for-profit industries have gotten away with so much. We could argue that the forces at be have enabled this. We could argue that their treatments are effective, we could really argue anything. But the truth is in some way shape or form, we have enabled this system. We have relied on it. And if we continue to rely on it, nothing is going to change. It’s our responsibility to seek out alternate and non-traditional forms of medicine through research and information. What’s the positive of this/ If you have spiritual or intuitive understandings, this is typically not expensive. This is plant medicine, this is energetic work. These are self actualization processes which take no form of money at all. Just an overcoming of fears, processing of information, facing issues and transmuting energy.

When I see these people come up on my TikTok who have the holistic answers for anything and everything, my first reaction is. Yes, this information has and will always be there. The cure for practically anything, including cancer, exists. But here’s where things go awry. The foundation of spiritually integrated healing is complex. It’s complicated. It’s simultaneously incredibly simple, but it’s complex in the sense that it goes against practically anything and everything that we know. I think that the general perception is that one herb can cure any and all of your illnesses. Hey, that’s theoretically possible, but it’s not the norm. Spiritual, mental emotional and physical issues are all tied up with one another. Which means that if you are having serious health issues, you are likely having serious other issues. In order to correct your problems, you’re likely going to need an overhaul of your life. And you know what people don’t want to do-overhaul their life. There’s a mega reliance on suppression and avoidance techniques. Masking the symptoms, but avoiding the root cause of the problem. Now, I am pro-western medicine for the time being. I mean truthfully I’m pro integrated medicine, but that’s more technical. And it’s because it’ simply not sustainable to remove western medicine in a society that’s reliant on western medicine. People give up when they are received a diagnosis. And we can’t do that anymore. We need to fight for ourselves. We need to advocate, we need to research. And there is information out there, and I’m also working toward making it more accessible to the masses. But we need to be the change in terms of overturning our healthcare from what it is right now. It’s not going to be anyone else’s responsibility because they’re not going to do it. They are for-profit industries. We need to keep ourselves out fo hospitals, keep ourselves healthy, etc. And there is information and support out there. And I ask that you do not give up, because quite literally anything is possible and we can fight all of this together.
