411. We’re Too Obsessed With Ourselves & The Moment
We come into this world with an ego… for a reason. Our ego, along with our self identification allows us to exist within this density and dimension, or our physical world. It allows us to make “sense” of things. Our ego-ic nature also allows us to create a life for ourself, and even for others. There are lots of positive attributes and experiences to have with egos. If there weren’t, it’s likely that we wouldn’t incarnate here on this planet.
Of course, I think we all know how our ego can mess with not only our minds, but the minds of others, as well. An over-inflated or eclipsing ego can lead to narcissism or other toxic traits and behaviors The world of ego is so incredibly deep and vast, that not only am I likely not even covering the surface, but due to its complexity and multiple parts, I may even be counteracting different statements. It’s… a lot.
When I say that someone is obsessed with themselves, you may consider the typical “vanity” type of person. One that’s looking in the mirror, obsessed with the way they look, thinking they’re all that. But the truth is… the obsessions that we have with ourselves can stem from a very different type of fear or discomfort. When we are over inundated with negative energy and trauma, as a result, we can only think about ourselves. It’s similar to the experiences that people go through when they are addicts. They are so involved in their own negative cycles, behaviors and addiction, and in such a victim mentality, they have no cognition of how their actions can affect other people. You do not need to be in the depths of active addiction to experience these things. In fact, you can be quite high-functioning, as you can sort of “create” your life around your fears. You can avoid doing certain things, put yourself only in comfortable positions, etc. But you will likely have limits, and maybe even a short fuse. Your “world” may be easily disrupted. Of course, this is not a great thing. I don’t have to explain why being over-inundated with fears, anxieties and negative energies is bad. But I want to really explain how you can be too into your own ego and not in a way that is narcissistic. You can simply be over-involved in your own issues and problems. And in a way, this can be a defense mechanism, and is likely, again, a trauma response.
So how does one get out of these experiences? Certainly transmuting old, negative or stagnant energy, which I have posted to the top of this blog. But I truly think awareness is the first step. even if you don’t feel like you fit into this category, it may be time to take a leap of faith to set an intention or an affirmation that you will be working on these fears. That you are addressing them in the present tense. So what are overall benefits of this process? Typically a sense of peacefulness, of relief, and perhaps even pain management. In terms of your life path and purpose, often times you have more success overall in terms of job/business/career, and perhaps even interpersonal relationships. Things may just be or feel “better aligned”.
So what’s the reference to being too “in the moment”? After all, don’t we want to be in the moment? The answer is yes, and this is a really fine line to walk. You of course want to be present in the moment, but this is more so talking about foreshadowing and intention setting for the future. Our current physical reality is true, but in essence, it’s not real. In other words, at any given time, our physical reality does exist, but it may not be an accurate description to our energetic vibration. We are in the present and in the future, and our environment is often times in the present and in the past. This is primarily because our energy continues to shift, change and manifest everything it touches. So as the seconds go by and we change ourselves, our environment is slightly delayed, but eventually catches up. So when we are negatively affected by our environment, it may cause an unintentional negative reaction. If for example I suddenly become upset because i don’t like my physical home, it may put me into a lower vibration. But previously, I may have been in a higher vibration because say for example, I did something helpful related to my self-care. Our physical reality and our consciousness go back and forth all day like a ping-pong game. If we get too caught up with what currently exists and our physical reality, we stunt our current growth and evolution. In a way, we need to “pretend” that our surroundings and our environment is in the future. This is why manifesting works. Not because it’s magic necessarily, but because it’s directly related to either improving or decreasing our energetic vibration at any given moment. And leaning into what is “true” as being a fact, unchangeable prophecy for the future, or in some way shape or form letting us affect us in a way it shouldn’t, we are ultimately in a negative self-fulfilling prophecy loop. Fake it until you make it!
Point being, it’s time to get out of your own head. Not because I say so, but because it actually does and will help. Other than intention setting, you can do this through journaling, meditative practices, and communicating with your guides asking for signs. Good luck!
