429. What Is Healing?
Not only do I talk about healing all the time, but it’s quite literally the crux, the point, and the foundation of what I do.
But I guess I’ve never really addressed… what is healing? And why do it?
I recall having a conversation with someone who was totally confused, if not scoffed at the fact that I considered myself a “healer”. I think there’s a general misunderstanding as to what healing truly is.
I think of someone who just walks out into a field and throws their hands up screaming… “I’m healed!”
Of course, physical healing certainly exists. There’s a perceived “problem” as well as a perceived solution. Generally, as a collective, we’re pretty clear on what’s a physical problem. If you break your arm, you want your arm to be not broken, as a broken arm would cause a host of issues such as pain, discomfort, inability to move, stopped range of motion, difficulty existing, and more.
It’s kind of interesting that some people consider mental and emotional aspects of us to fall under the guise of healing. And this is because, many of us, at some point in our life, feel a sense of healing. Whether it’s after grieving a loved one, releasing a relationship, or simply bettering ourselves from negative experiences and trauma. We know what it’s like to be unhealed, as well as healed. But this is a general statement. Because sometimes we’re unhealed… and don’t know it.
Isn’t it funny how emotional and mental trauma can cause the exact same issues as a physical problem? Pain, discomfort, inability to move, stopped range of motion, difficulty existing, and more. We are conscious beings, meaning that we don’t just feel physical pain, we feel mental and emotional as well.
In the most simple sense, healing is intended or wanted to take place when there’s a perceived issue or problem, perhaps causing symptoms mentioned above, or other. But healing can always be taking place, proactively. As time keeps moving, and our energetic bodies, like sponges, continue to take new energies on. If you’re walking down the street and you receive an ugly comment from a stranger, this may be a new experience you need to “heal” from, depending on the type, conditions or severity. You never quite know what you may encounter. The added difficulty is that old traumas and negative experiences have legs. They cause short-term issues, such as pain and discomfort, but also stretch into longer term ones such as inability to “move”, stopped range of motion, difficulty existing, and more. Again, this can be a somewhat complex process to discern how much healing you need, you want, and what it is. After all, sometimes we do not want to be healed. We, as human beings, have fears, unsure feelings and thoughts. Sometimes we’re not willing to come to terms with the after-effects of what happens after the healing comes into play. It’s… a lot.
So… what’s the point? Why heal? I think this answer can be dependent on who we’re talking about, as well as everyone’s individual goals or intentions. As a collective, generally, people are happier and healthier when healing occurs. We don’t really want a physically or mentally ill collective. Even if you theoretically don’t care about others, a sick collective will ultimately negatively effect you. Whether that be there’s less healthy people to have around to experience life with, less resources all around, not including a terribly low energetic vibration all of us will be doomed to live in. It’s a strain on physical as well as mental/emotional resources all around. You can only put yourself in a bubble for so long. Being happy and healthy allows our collective to evolve. And sometimes… I think. Evolution is encoded in our DNA. Not survival. The universe is coded to evolve. The earth is coded to evolve. Because these things have consciousness. And the only way they survive is to adapt. And adaptation is hand in hand with evolution.
For the individual, healing tends to be and feel quite innate. We typically do not like pain and discomfort. We typically like feeling happy, healthy and successful. We like that we know we’re doing good for ourselves and others. This is just generally speaking. Although, ironically, I do feel that it’s the “unhealed” parts of ourselves that don’t want the healing (lol). Healing inception… I suppose.
Of course then we get to the larger question which is… why evolve? My only current answer is that energy is inherently coded to evolve, simply because it’s “alive”. And if energy wasn’t alive… it wouldn’t evolve. Does that sound weird? Maybe this is weird. I’ll have to think more on it (lol). But essentially… energy is always moving, therefore anything made of energy needs to always move. And that move has to be intelligent, otherwise it will have nowhere to go and nothing to do. Kind of like being bored at home. Maybe it’s cool for a second, but often times you’d rather be hiking, on a rollercoaster, at a concert, with friends and family, with animals, shopping, eating, vacationing, reading… just to name a few :). Maybe it’s up for anyone and everyone to decide. Why evolve? Why should you evolve? And that may inherently be your reason, or lack of reason for healing.
