46. Why You Should Conceptualize The Absence Of Security
This must be an incredibly odd title. Why would one ever want absence of security? And particularly to conceptualize it?
We default to security every single day. We live (at times) a leisurely life where we default to the programs which are established to make us feel safe. Whether it’s schools, hospitals, our job, perhaps even the items and objects in our home. Do you have a particular safety “food”? Or how about a TV show? Does the absence of this give you a bit of anxiety? Why? Is it because every single day we wake up with the assumption that it’s there? Not saying that this is a bad thing. But I am saying that our sense of safety and security is certainly holding us back in some regards. Are you afraid of what may happen to you if one of these pieces of your life are taken away from you? Why?
Particularly in the physical world where not only things but people come and go, it’s quite frankly irrational to think that all of your creature comforts and security blankets will remain the same. But who are you when all of these things are gone?
Personally, it invigorates me. I realize that there are elements and aspects of my life which hold me back. Without a safety net, do you sink or swim?
Now perhaps a bit of this is misleading, as we all “need” something from each other in some degree. But what if we didn’t in most aspects? If aspects and elements of your life were taken from you do you have the freedom to do what you want? The space to breathe? Freedom of thought? Opportunity for new feelings and emotions? Parts of our current reality and society hold us back, as they provide an opportunity for us to default. How can we truly move forward if we aren’t a little bit afraid of what would happen if we don’t? Without a safety net it’s our opportunity to shine… or else.
What if we conceptualize that this is our only moment to do or do not. This is… our Eminem “Lose Yourself”. What would you do? Personally, I look around at everything with a fresh perspective. Even the strawberries that I’m looking at in my fridge have different meaning. All meaning I used to assign to strawberries no longer matters. It’s a completely blank slate. I can decide how I want to perceive these strawberries and what I want them to do for me. I’m no longer encumbered by any pre-conceived notions or any negative thoughts, feelings or emotions associated with them.
If everything that you typically defaulted to was gone tomorrow, what aspects of it would you recreate, given the permission to do so?
Now of course, there are safety concerns associated with these things, which is why it’s important for you to lean into your intuition. But most importantly, your excitement. Your drive. Your reason for living.
Get yourself amped and get yourself hyped. You never know when it’s going to be the last day for you here on earth.
